WHO WE ARE:

We are a group of veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, American citizens, members of the Catholic faith, and members of Catholic War Veterans of the U.S.A. (CWV), Our Lady of Peace Post 1947 in Las Vegas, Nevada, who have established a 501(c)(3) public charity, "the Catholic Veterans of Nevada Charity Foundation" doing business as "Veterans Care Assistance Program" or VCAP, to expand and improve our welfare program for the benefit of veterans, their families, and the citizens of Nevada.

What We Do:

VCAP raises funds for CWV Post 1947's Welfare Programs:

Due to Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions, Foundation fund raising activities have been precluded. We urgently need donations for our welfare program. Please follow the instructions on the Donations Webpage.

  • Post 1947 maintains and operates a food bank and deliver non-perishable food and hygiene products to veterans, their families, and others in the community in need.
  • It provides emergency financial assistance for rent and/or utilities to prevent homelessness and aid in medical emergencies.
  • It provides financial aid in emergency situations, when funding is available. In the event the Post and Foundation lack funding for financial assistance, the Post or Foundation will refer the client to other community resources.
  • It participates in a community sponsored Veterans Service Fair (formerly Stand-Down) for homeless veterans each October.
  • It assists homeless veterans daily by providing RTC Bus Passes and Water through the VA NE Primary Care Clinic (VA NEPCC) Homeless Outreach.
  • It provides assistance and guidance in obtaining housing with other community partners.
  • It collaborates with Job Connect of Southern Nevada and other employment agencies to help clients gain employment.
  • It provides funding to the VA Homeless Outreach at the VA NEPCC for clients to obtain Identification, Health and other necessary documents to begin employment.
  • It supports Service Officers available to assist veterans, their families, widows, and orphans in applying for VA medical care, benefits, and compensation.
  • It provides an Honor Guard and Rifle Detail for Veterans Funerals and Burials, at the request of the family (please give ample advanced notice
  • How You Can Help:

All Foundation members are volunteering their time and no one receives any form of compensation other than reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses. Volunteer positions are open to all individuals regardless of race, creed, national origin, or gender. There are no dues, but we encourage you to volunteer your time and talent in one of our programs.
